In 1915, the German geophysicist and meteorologist, Alfred Wegener agitated the scientific community explaining the theory of the ancient existence of a supercontinent formed by all currently known continents before these broke up and moved to their nowadays known positions. In 1920 this supercontinent was called “Pangea”, derived from the Ancient Greek term (πᾶν “all, entire, whole”) and Gaia (Γαῖα, mother earth, land”). #Union
